High Court dismisses JJ Banda's case against the state

The Lusaka High Court has dismissed the case in which fugitive Petauke central Member of Parliament EMMANUEL BANDA sued the state seeking among other reliefs, damages for his alleged abduction.

The matter has been dismissed for want of prosecution.

Justice MWAPE BOWA ruled that since the matter was restored, there has never been any attendance by all the parties involved.

The matter has been dismissed with costs on Mr. BANDA.

The Court had initially set October 1, this year as the date for hearing the matter, but none of the parties showed up at Court.

Mr BANDA, had sued Political Advisor to the President LEVY NGOMA, State House Communication Specialist CLAYSON HAMASAKA, UPND North Western Chairperson TREVOR MWIINDE and Attorney General , MULILO KABESHA.

3 trucks burn to ashes in Rufunsa

THREE trucks have been burnt to ashes in an accident on the Great East Road in Rufunsa district.

The accident happened on Saturday, October 19, 2024, around 18:40 hours at Manenekela Hills.

Involved in the accident was a Volvo truck, a Shacman truck and an ERF truck, all were burnt, while a Freightliner truck had minor damage.

Police Assistant Public Relations Officer, GODFREY explained that preliminary investigations reveal that the accident happened when the driver of the ERF truck failed to keep to his lane and collided with the Shacman truck, which was being followed by the Volvo truck and the freightliner.

Mr CHILABI has added that the collision resulted in the fire, which burnt 3 of the vehicles.
