IRIS PROMISES DEVELOPMENT FOR MWANDI, URGES HICHILEMA TO FOCUS ON ISSUES NOT ATTACKS
INDEPENDENT aspiring parliamentary candidate for Mwandi Constituency, Iris Kaingu, has pledged to deliver meaningful development if elected, promising improved roads, better healthcare, employment opportunities for young people, and increased support for women.
Kaingu said Mwandi has been neglected by all governments and called for urgent investment in infrastructure and essential public services.
Responding to remarks made by President Hakainde Hichilema during his campaign, Kaingu urged Hichilema to focus on policy issues rather than personal attacks aimed at her.
“Discuss issues and ideas, and not people,” she said.
She expressed concern that the President had chosen to criticize her instead of addressing what she described as pressing challenges facing Western Province, including the poor condition of the Livingstone Sesheke Road, recurring cattle diseases affecting the livestock sector, and the need for more schools, clinics, hospitals, and other development projects in Mwandi and across the province.
At a rally, Hichilema said he called Iris but she declined to take his call. Hichilema wondered why anyone would refuse a call from a President.
