Tax season 2017 is upon us. More than that, there have been several changes to the ITR12 returns. Also more stringent verification procedures from the authorities...but simultaneously much more interactive activity this year... We look forward to making the journey a pleasant one for all on board!

It could happen..that the monthly tax deducted by one's employer may not be consistent when taking into account your personal overall tax affairs during the year....

This then results in HUUUUUUUGE amounts being payable to SARS when submitting your Personal Income Tax Return during tax season..
In fact, in some cases, penalties and interest may even be imposed as a direct consequence!

Such a scenario is particularly common where individuals receive Travel Allowances, or are employed at more than one place simultaneously, or have more than one source of income.

The best solution however, is to remain compliant all year round, thus avoiding any surprises later on.

As we usher in the month of August, we prepare for the First Provisional Tax Submission of the 2016 Tax Year for our clients and their esteemed businesses.

Provisional Tax is for any person or business deriving income other than a salary.

We do serve to caution that stringent penalties exist for non compliance in this regard, both for non submission as well as inaccurate submission.. so it may be worth your while to confirm with your Tax Practitioner ....

The common issues include forgotten passwords or never having e-filed before or not knowing if you have an e-filing profile...

if you have forgotten you password, please note that creating an additional profile will only make matters worse!
Your password may be reset by calling SARS on 0800 00 7277.
You will need to verify your particulars.

With less than 7 days to go to 2015 Tax Season..It is time to leap into action, no matter WHO you are...

Do obtain all your Tax Certificates from your Medical Aid, Retirement Annuity Fund, Investment Houses etc as these will be relevant!

If you are an employer...please ensure that your employees IRP5's have been submitted!

Businesses will also require your 2015 Annual Financial Statements to be completed in order to facilitate an Income Tax Submission!

If you are an employee...please ensure that your access to e-filing is sorted before next week's rush!
