Please alert fisherman, surfers, beachgoers and seafarers as well as people living next to the coast.

Due to Cyclone Dikeledi passing next to South Africa and coinciding with a Spring Tide and Full Moon, this will likely create a huge storm surge as well as very rough seas and large waves, on the East Coast, while the Spring Tide/ Full Moon will affect the rest of our coast.

We repeat the Alert shared last night:

Lifesaving South Africa urges beach users to exercise extra caution along the coastline during the course of the coming week. With the anticipated swell surge down the Mozambican channel coupled with Spring Tides forming with full moon by 15th January 2025, the surf conditions are expected to be quite hectic.

Bathers should check whether the beaches are open for swimming or only swim where lifeguards are on duty.
