Hey Everyone,
Over the past few years, many of you have asked whether we could have dedicated Metro Police officers permanently deployed to our ward. I want you to know that Iโve taken this request seriously and have consistently motivated for it on your behalf.
Iโm very pleased to share that starting in September, five dedicated Metro Police officers will be deployed to Ward 109!
These officers have just completed 18 months of intensive training, covering:
โข Traffic enforcement
โข Tactical response
โข Firearm competency
โข Neighbourhood policing
โข Digital crime reporting
I recently spent time with some of the newly appointed officers, and I can confidently say they are highly professional and ready to serve. I'm especially looking forward to:
โข More visible policing
โข Faster response times to incidents
โข A stronger presence in known crime hotspots
โข Closer collaboration with SAPS, Neighbourhood Watches, and local Safety Groups
This is a major step forward for community safety in our ward.
A heartfelt thank you to our Executive Mayor, the Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security, and my colleagues at the City who helped make this a reality.
Most of all, thank you to you, the residents of Ward 109. Your constant support and partnership have made all the difference.
