Becoming a triple-qualified lawyer is no simple task – but with resilience and determination, Claire Shih Yu Wu now wears this title with pride. 🌏⚖️
“Growing up in Taiwan, I never imagined that one day I would qualify as a lawyer in three jurisdictions.”
Reflecting on her journey so far:
“As a non-native English speaker from Taiwan, qualifying in Taiwan, the US, and England and Wales required strong self-discipline.
“Passing multiple bar exams was demanding, both academically and mentally,” Claire admits.
As an M&A and corporate lawyer, Claire believes practising across jurisdictions has transformed the way she works. ⭐
“Even after qualification, adapting to different legal systems and working styles required courage and confidence as I rebuilt my experience in new environments.
“Understanding different legal systems allows me to collaborate more effectively with international teams and navigate complex cross-border transactions with greater confidence.”
Claire encourages aspiring solicitors considering an international path to remain patient and focused on their goals.
“Keep the faith and be intentional in your path – starting from what genuinely interests you will not only make the process more meaningful but also help you to build a more sustainable career.”
