It is illegal to change lanes in an intersection. If you cause an accident by changing lanes in the intersection you are going to be considered at fault.

The police are most likely not going to get into your phone if you have a passcode. Don’t let them convince you that they will.

🚨 FILMING POLICE? KNOW THE 25-FOOT RULE.

Florida law generally prohibits you from approaching or remaining within 25 feet of a law enforcement officer who is performing official duties after the officer warns you to stay back and tells you that you are interfering with, threatening, or harassing the officer.

That does not mean police can automatically stop you from recording them.

📱 You can generally record police performing their duties in public from a lawful location. But if an officer gives you the legally required warning, back up and keep recording from a safe distance.

Know your rights. Know the limits. Don’t turn filming a police encounter into your own arrest.

Self Checkout is an unfortunate reality we are living in. Big box stores are saving money by not paying for cashiers and the consumer is getting the short end of the stick.

Someone puts their phone in your face and starts recording. Can you slap it out of their hand?

Bad idea.

Swiping or slapping someone’s phone out of their hand can potentially result in criminal charges, even if you’re angry that they’re recording you.

And here’s the part people forget: if they’re recording, you may have just created video evidence of the entire incident.

Don’t turn an annoying situation into a criminal case.

Know your rights. Know the law.

You don’t have to hand over your ID just because a police officer asks.

In Florida, during a lawful investigatory stop, police generally need reasonable suspicion that you committed, are committing, or are about to commit a crime before they can detain you and demand identifying information.

A badge doesn’t automatically create an obligation to identify yourself. Know the difference between a consensual encounter and a lawful detention.

Know your rights. Stay respectful. Don’t consent to more than the law requires.

Rolling a stop sign is a very common reason for a police officer to pull you over.

One drink might not seem like a big deal, but driving at 1, 2, or 3 AM can put you under a much bigger spotlight than driving during the day.

Late at night, police are on higher alert for impaired drivers. A minor swerve, rolling stop, or other small driving mistake can quickly turn into a DUI investigation.

The later it is, the higher the scrutiny. Know your rights.
