A Special Thank You to Former Mayor Quentin Hart • Hart Civic Strategies for joining our Civic Empowerment & Citizenship Readiness class last evening.

During his visit, he shared valuable insights into the responsibilities of a mayor, the role of local government, and how local leadership impacts our everyday lives.

For our students, this was a wonderful opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world civic engagement and gain a deeper understanding of how their local government works.

Thank you, Former Mayor Hart, for sharing your time, knowledge, and experience with our students. Your participation helps us empower newcomers with the knowledge and confidence to become informed and engaged members of our community.

Immigration Update: A recent federal court ruling has blocked the practice of ICE making broad civil immigration arrests at immigration courts nationwide. The decision found that the policy lacked sufficient legal justification and raised concerns about access to the immigration court system. Supporters of the ruling argue that individuals should be able to attend required court hearings without fear of arrest, while the government is expected to challenge the decision.

As always, community members should stay informed about changes in immigration policies and consult a qualified immigration attorney or accredited representative regarding their individual circumstances.

The ruling in a class-action lawsuit filed in California applies to immigration courts nationwide.
