Vaccination passports in the US: Republican states are against❌
⠀
As of today, six states have signed decrees that prohibit the issuance of a vaccination passport as well as requiring such a document from a person to provide any service. The decrees have been signed by the governors of the following states:
⠀
◾️Arizona
◾️Montana
◾️ Idaho
◾️ Texas
◾️ Florida
◾️ Utah
⠀
All governors have spoken out against vaccination passports out of concern that their use would violate users' privacy rights and that the passports would be used to discriminate against unvaccinated US residents.
⠀
The governors of Tennessee, Iowa and Georgia also do not support the use of vaccine passports. However, they have not issued edicts regarding the ban.
⠀
Nebraska's governor said the technology was a violation of "two central principles of the American system: freedom of movement and confidentiality of health care services." The state said it would not participate in any vaccination passport initiatives.
⠀
The only state that has agreed to use and has already issued its own vaccination passport is New York🗽. The system has been in place here since March 2021.
