I know many of you remember as a kid, while snuggled under your warm blankets, the delicious suspense of waiting to hear the call from your mom “Don’t get up! School’s closed!” How exciting and liberating it was to have an unexpected day off!
A day filled with hot chocolate, grilled cheese, cartoons and sleigh riding was awesome and better still no homework.
I remember before office connected PC’s became common even adults enjoyed a free pass from the office when deep snow came.
Fast forward to February 1, 2021 as most of the country huddled under another Winter Storm Watch and in some places, snow measured in the feet, not inches.
Here at the Jersey Shore we were slammed! But the power stayed on and it was just another day at the “office.” Even the poor kids were gypped out of a lazy snow day because school is virtual during COVID-19.
I suppose I’m just sharing my nostalgic whims, but it would be nice to have a real old fashioned snow day.
