UCLA Law Mock Trial Association Each team represents either a plaintiff/prosecution or defendant.

Mock Trial is a simulated trial, where teams of four people compete against each other in front of real judges and attorneys, to show off their oral advocacy and court decorum skills. The teams complete all stages of a real trial starting from pre-trial motions (aka motions in limine) and ending with closing statements.

Another weekend, another competition, another final round finish.

Congratulations to Jeremy Judd, addison harms :), and Elizabeth Galajyan on theiElizabeth Galajyant Cup in Colorado!

This squad of 3Ls tried a defamation case based on the infamous Colorado murder of JonBenét Ramsey. Emerging with an undefeated record going into the final round, the team competed against a fantastic group at UT Austin, narrowly losing by one ballot.

UCLA has attended three trial advocacy competitions so far this semester.

They’ve won all of them.

Congratulations to Nasier Muldrow, Ben Wallace, and Laniya Davidson for emerging as champions at Drexel’s 2026 Battle of the Experts competition! The competition is small and exclusive: ten of the strongest trial advocacy schools in the country participate, often sending their most experienced competitors and coaches.

UCLA has won this competition seven times. But once again, the Bruins were up the challenge. Kudos to Nasier Muldrow who emerged as the top advocate at this competition and Laniya Davidson who has won this competition twice.

Of course, the team couldn’t have done it alone. Thank you to director Justin Bernstein and Kyle DeCamp for coaching this team.

So far, two competitions, two championships.

Congratulations to 3Ls Natalie Penn and Ria Debnath on winning the Flash Trial! This competition is a little harder than most: advocates get only 1 hour to read the case, prep examinations, statements, and motions. For almost anyone, that would be a daunting task. But these Bruins were up to the challenge. Not only did these two take first place, they BOTH received outstanding advocate awards.

Thank you to their coach, Aidan Welsh, for bringing out the best in these two!

They moved the location…but not the champions 🏆

Congratulations to camille (3L) and Dylan Darwish (3L) for emerging as champions of the National First Chair Competition!

These advocates “first chair”-ed each side of the case entirely on their own. For their stellar advocacy in the preliminary rounds, they BOTH received Outstanding Advocate awards. This is UCLA’s second year winning the competition and it doesn’t look like we’ll be slowing down anytime soon 🐻

Thank you to coaches Ireland Larsen, Nick Boroski, and Justin Bernstein for all their help!

Congratulations to our two teams who competed at the National Criminal Trial Competition in Orange County!

Team Blue emerged as FINALISTS with .galajyan (2L), (2L), (3L), and (3L) crushing the competition. Special shoutout to on winning Best Opening Statement for the whole comp!

Trailing them as Semifinalists by half a ballot was Team Gold. Congratulations to (2L), .e.penn (2L), .schaefer (2L), and (3L). Special shoutout to for NEVER losing a mock trial round in college.

Keep an eye out this week as we trudge through our backlog of instagram posts we’ve been slacking on 🫣

What a weekend!

This is the fifth year AAJ has allowed schools to qualify two teams to Nationals. UCLA has had 9 teams reach the National Quarterfinals. No other school has had 5.

This year, UCLA continued that trend. Both teams made the playoffs.

Congratulations to .judd (2L), (3L), (1L!!), and ._wallace (1L!!) for making it to the FINAL ROUND of AAJ Nationals, losing out on the championship by a single ballot. We are so proud of this talented squad.

Also special shoutout to (3L), .parker27 (3L), (3L), and (2L) with a stellar showing in the playoffs, making Quarterfinalists. The Bruins showed up 🐻.

Thank you to coaches Justin Bernstein, Jack Eyers, Sarah Stebbins, and Enrico Trevasani for bringing the best out of these students.

Keep an eye out in the coming weeks as we recap our other competitions and for when the Bruins tackle TYLA.
