This morning, the U.S Supreme Court ruled that the federal law, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, extends protection to LGBTQ+ workers nationwide. Now, it is not only illegal for an employer to discriminate and fire an employee because of a person's sex, but also because of a person's sexual orientation and gender identity. This ruling is a huge victory for the #LGBTQ+ community and for advocates of gay and transgender rights movement.
