Most people are aware that we live in a world of cameras; however, many don't understand the extent to which our everyday movements are recorded, and how that data is used by law enforcement. My latest ABA Journal column discusses this issue through the lens of the new HBO Max series "Neighborhood Watch." Give it a read.

As an attorney, I’m trained to be suspicious of narratives, allergic to absolutes. I’m contractually obligated to ask, “Who consented?” and answer, “It depends.” That makes watching Neighborhood Watch on HBO Max a unique experience.

I haven’t followed the Karen Read trial. It’s rare for me to stay too engaged in a pending publicized trial, and like you will hear many professional athletes state that they don’t watch their sport during downtime, I imagine it’s true for my profession as well.

Are you a "Juggalo"? Regardless of your familiarity with Insane Clown Posse (ICP), you may not know about the group's fight with the US government regarding their label as a "gang." My latest ABA Journal column examines this designation and the use of gang evidence after watching a documentary entitled "The United States of Insanity."

“People hate what they don’t understand.” The United States of Insanity embodies this mantra, and if you watch the film, you’ll hear these wise words uttered by a man in clown face paint. But maybe that’s part of the point.

My latest ABA Journal column discusses NBC's "Found" while examining bias in criminal investigations:

Earlier in my career, I was cross-examining a detective during a jury trial. The investigation, he conducted, was one-sided. He had zeroed in on his suspect, and everything that followed was simply an attempt to support his narrative.
