Prisoners' Legal Services provides civil legal aid to people in Massachusetts prisons and jails

PLS does not handle criminal trials, appeals, or post-conviction litigation challenging a conviction or sentence. The office concentrates on problems of health care, mental health care, guard brutality, segregation and isolation, and conditions of confinement (especially overcrowding).
