I help Michigan residents understand their legal options when it comes to medical debt. In some cases, you may be able to dispute unfair charges, request verification of the debt, challenge billing errors, or work toward a fair resolution.

You do not have to let confusing medical bills control your finances.

If you are dealing with medical debt, billing disputes, or collection efforts, contact me at 517-299-5659 to discuss your situation.

Here's something collectors hope you never learn: old debt can become legally uncollectable. It's called the statute of limitations, and once it passes, they can't successfully sue you for it.
5 signs a debt might be "time-barred":
1. It's several years old (the limit varies by state and debt type).
2. You haven't made a payment in a long time.
3. It's been sold to a third-party "debt buyer."
4. They're suddenly pushing hard for "just a small payment."
5. They get vague when you ask for dates and details.
⚠️ Big trap: making even a tiny payment can RESTART the clock. Don't pay or promise anything until you know where the debt stands.

Myth: "If I ignore the lawsuit, it'll go away." Fact: Ignoring it is exactly how you lose.
When you don't respond to a debt lawsuit, the court can enter a "default judgment" — meaning the collector wins automatically, without ever proving the debt was yours. That judgment can lead to wage garnishment, frozen bank accounts, and liens.
The irony? Many of these cases are weak. Debt buyers often can't produce the documents to win a contested case. But you have to show up and respond to force that.
Silence helps them. Showing up helps you.
Holding court papers you've been avoiding? DM us — there's almost always a deadline, and it matters.
