Ponderings

Hard-boiled eggs.
It's crazy how eggs from the same carton and boiled at the same time can peel so differently. With some of them the shell comes off easily and cleanly. Others? What a challenge not to lose most of the egg white. Certainly can't use them for deviled eggs!

Sometimes I think people are like that. Maybe they come from the same family, same neighborhood or school but they 'turn out' differently. Some handle adversity like a duck on a rainy day; it just rolls off their backs. It's all taken in stride because it is part of living life. Better things are just around the corner, they know.

But others? Everything sticks to them like an unpeelable shell. Adversity breaks off pieces of their lives leaving them ragged and not as pretty. They are in a constant thunderstorm of past hurts, traumas and
broken dreams. They don't find any peace or contentment because they don't look for the sun to dry them off and bring them a new vision of a happier life.

But, IF they make the choice to look ahead, leaving all the old hurts behind, they can become a most elegant egg salad even more delicious than that deviled egg.

Every day presents a new opportunity to grow forward. Don't let it pass you by.
