Coronavirus is affecting the way we live and move worldwide, and it's also affecting the way we gather and work as a Movement. As a Language Justice advocate, I'm thinking of ways in which we can still build bridges through Language Access - and I would like to remind us all: that even when we can't convene in person, if you would still like to meet in an online or phone setting, we can offer virtual interpretation. The conversations don't have to stop. Let's continue building, imagining and supporting each other, even if not as we originally intended. Sending all love, clarity, and flexible energy to keep moving forward

MARB Language Services was born out of my profound love for our community, for the causes that we fight for, and for Language Justice. My objective is to help create spaces where every person can express themselves in the language they feel most comfortable in, where we all have equal access to information and can listen to and learn from non-English speaking community members, and where we consciously and collectively peel off the layers of linguistic privilege. MARB strives to affirm the value of the professional work of our Interpreters in the movement, and to ensure that we work in healthy and thoughtful environments where our indispensable labor is fairly compensated.

MARB Language Services surgió de mi profundo amor por nuestra comunidad, por las causas por las que luchamos, y por la Justicia Lingüística. Mi objetivo es ayudar a construir espacios en los que cada persona pueda expresarse en el idioma en el que se siente más cómoda, donde tengamos igualdad de acceso a información y escuchemos y aprendamos de miembres de la comunidad que no hablan inglés, y donde conscientemente y colectivamente pelemos las capas de privilegio lingüístico. MARB lucha para afirmar el valor del trabajo profesional de nuestres Intérpretes en el movimiento, y garantizar que trabajemos en ambientes saludables y considerados donde nuestra indispensable labor sea justamente remunerada.
