I was honored to represent Monroe County today in the Pocono Mountain United Way day of caring event. I participated along with about 250 others and put together 60,000 meals which were distributed to food pantries and other areas within the county to serve those in need and those that have food insecurity. This is something that I spoke about before I was elected treasurer of the county, and I am grateful to our amazing hotels along with the Pocono Mountains visitors bureau for putting this amazing event together.

I am happy to announce that after 8 months of negotiations, I along with my Chief Deputy Treasurer, Trenton Schaffer, were able to negotiate a substantially higher rate of return for Monroe County which is nearly 5 times what the previous rate was during the previous 2 administrations over the last 28 years. This higher rate of return will represent an increase in additional dollars directly to the county of over $600K over the next 4 years! This higher rate of return goes directly back to the county General Fund! Congratulations and heartfelt thanks to my entire staff with the Monroe County Treasurer's office!

In June, I had the honor of representing Monroe County at the PA County Treasurers' Association 77th Annual Convention. As a newly elected treasurer, connecting with veteran treasurers across Pennsylvania to discuss system modernization and fiscal management was invaluable. My main focus is to leverage smarter short and long term investment strategies to increase county revenue and ease the financial burden of residents and constituents of Monroe County.

I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity to appoint and promote Georgeanne Tokar as my new 2nd Deputy Treasurer! “Georgie’s” work ethic and knowledge of the financial systems and inter-workings of our department made her a great candidate and choice for this role. As an added bonus, her mom came in with a gift of flowers, so we took that opportunity to do her ceremonial swearing in so that mom could be there in person! congratulations Georgie!
