Best Buddies is a nonprofit dedicated to creating opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. 🤝💼

Everyone needs to know how to provide for their loved ones after they are gone through some estate planning measures. An estate plan may include a Will, Durable Power of Attorney for finances, Healthcare Power of Attorney, and Beneficiary Deed for homeowners.

In Missouri for your home you need a Beneficiary Deed notarized and filed with the county recorder of deeds. If it's not recorded prior to death then it is invalid. This document allows you to pass your home to someone and avoid probate. If the home is sold the deed would be invalidated.

T.O.D. designation on the title of boats, cars and other vehicles to transfer on death also done at the County Office for titling vehicles.

P.O.D. designation on a bank account will allow the money to be transferred to the named designee without probate. Any bank should be able to assist you with adding this to your account.

Power of Attorney for finances and Healthcare to make decisions or act on your behalf during times of incapacity only.

A Will can be changed or revoked at any time and updated with life changes. You can create a trust within a Will to protect minor children as well as name guardians.
