Mission Statement
The primary purpose of Mother's Against Injustice is to protect all Sisseton Wahpeton members from the injustices and unfair treatment imposed by law enforcement and the court systems of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate and the state of South Dakota and to initiate changes and provide oversight in order to provide for fair and equitab
le systems. Goal:
The goal is to include all organizations, state and tribal to initiate and implement changes for a fair system of justice and to ensure that fundamental notions of liberty are upheld for SWO members. Distribute & learn official ten points when stopped by police.
2. Provide list of attorneys sensitive to the needs of tribal members.
3. Obtain the job descriptions of local probation officers.
4. Keep in contact with the American Civil Liberties Union. Inform the South Dakota and North Dakota Congressional members.
6. Inform the Senate Select Committee on Indian Affairs.
7. Collect data on judicial systems pertinent to Native Americans.
8. Inform and involve other tribal members for support.
9. Ensure that tribal members are provided with adequate legal representation.
10. Inform and educate tribal members of the judicial system.
