Dan Jahnsen once again volunteered his time to Brielle Elementary School to teach 8th graders the art of giving a speech. This year, instead of a debate type format, Dan choose to have the kids write a speech and deliver it to Veterans of the Vietnam War. This was a touching event for the kids, the Veterans and those in the audience. On this Memorial Day, we would like to not only remember those who died serving, but thank surviving Veterans and all those who chose to serve in the armed forces. Thank you for your service.

As of September 21, 2018, federal law requires the major credit reporting agencies to freeze accounts on request for free. To help protect against identity theft, if you are the parent or legal custodian of a child under 16, the guardian or conservator of an incapacitated adult, or an Agent under a Power of Attorney, you can request a freeze on their behalf. Credit freezes can be requested either online or by written letter and can be lifted when/if there is no longer a need for the freeze. Congratulations to the Class of 2018! When sending your child off to college or trade school this year, don’t forget to have him or her sign a Healthcare POA and a General Durable POA specifically designed for the college student. You may be paying the bills and your child may be on your medical insurance, but once she turns 18, you no longer have access to her financial records, school records or medical records. If anything happens while your child is away at school, if she has not already signed a POA you will probably be denied permission to speak with medical providers and will not be able to speak with the school about the status of your child’s courses, scholarship/grant monies, loans or tuition.
