BREAKING: The Senate has voted 53 to 47 to confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson as the 116th Supreme Court justice — securing her place as the first Black woman on the nation's high court.
All 50 Senate Democrats voted for Jackson's confirmation, and three Republicans — Sens. Susan Collins, Mitt Romney and Lisa Murkowski — joined them.
Her confirmation fulfills a major campaign promise from President Biden: to nominate the first Black woman to the Supreme Court.
Jackson, 51, served eight years as a federal trial court judge and last June was confirmed for a seat on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. Prior to becoming a judge, she worked as a public defender. Once confirmed, Jackson will be the first Supreme Court justice since Thurgood Marshall to have represented indigent criminal defendants.

No official announcement yet but immigration attorneys are reporting that USCIS has been approving some family based Adjustment of status/I-485 and some Petition to Remove condition on residence/I-751 without first scheduling an interview. Due to Covid19, USCIS offices have been closed for in person visits and interviews for many months, which caused a huge backlog. Therefore, it seems like USCIS is now mailing out Green Cards without prior interview in some straight forward cases. Keep an eye on your mailbox :-)
