On April 21, 2025, the Washington Post reported that representatives from DOGE received permission to access the Department of Justice EOIR Courts and Appeals System (ECAS). The ECAS system is used for parties to access and file court documents and records in cases being heard before the Executive Office of Information (EOIR) and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).

The update comes after DOGE has asked to use other information databases to support enforcement goals. This includes accessing Medicare and IRS information in order to identify individuals that the government believes are in the country unlawfully.

TEAM MEMBER SHOUTOUT: This past weekend, College Intern Samantha Bracamonte was part of a sold-out performance for USF’s Kasamahan’s 51st Annual Philippine Cultural Night (PCN).

Serving as PCN’s Choir Lead, Samantha led and directed the singing of the U.S. and Philippine national anthems. She also composed, taught, and conducted her own musical arrangement of the award-winning composition of Filipino composer Ryan Cayabyab’s Paraiso. In addition to taking part in the Philippine Martial Arts segment of the show, Samantha served as the Cultural Committee Co-Chair working closely with the PCN Director.

We are proud of Samantha’s strong commitment in fostering and developing community empowerment and her continued service to the Filipino American community.

Samantha has been an intern at Hiraya Immigration since January. During her short time here, she has worked closely with our team, attending meetings and helping us meet deadlines, and sharing our firm’s values in delivering high-quality legal services to our clients. Congrats SB!
