If you're a landlord or renter if you haven't heard as of Jan 1, 2026 there is a new CA appliance law AB 628 - If you - landlord, have a residential rental property you must provide a good working stove and refrigerator. Yes, tenants are off the hook. If the tenants have one they want to use it must be written in the lease agreement where the tenant would opt out and would be responsible to maintain it. A refrigerator and stove are now statewide habitable standard. There are some exceptions. Be sure you know the law. If you have any questions contact me for more info.
