The SDLEES Pipes and Drums was honored to play at the Memorial Service for Lieutenant Colonel Kenneth Pipes (USMC, Retired). Vietnam Veteran, Silver Star and Purple Heart recipient, among numerous other awards. Retiring after 25 years in the Marine Corps, Pipes continued his public service as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff, retiring as a Reserve Captain after 26 years. A hero and the definition of a selfless public servant.

Today the band was honored to play at the San Diego County Officer Down Memorial. It is always good to see so many pipers and drummers com together from the various Law Enforcement County Bands and play together.

Unfortunately this year another name was added to the wall as we will never forget JD and his ultimate sacrifice

Today we remember the life of fallen Officer Gerald Griffin Jr. EOW:04/25/2003. Officer Gerald Griffin succumbed to injuries sustained ten days earlier when he was struck by a vehicle while conducting a radar speed check on Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach. Officer Griffin had observed a speeding car and waved to the driver to pull over. The driver did not slow down and struck Officer Griffin. Officer Griffin was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla where he succumbed to his injuries 10 days later. The driver of the vehicle that struck him was sentenced to one day of community service for each of Officer Griffin’s life. Officer Griffin had served the San Diego Police Department for 17 years and was assigned to Traffic Division.

Please take a moment to honor him and the ultimate sacrifice he made protecting the community he so proudly served.

Rest easy Dicky! Your battle is over, and your service will not be forgotten!

Hey Family & Friends,  I'm doing the ride again this year and really need your help to reach my target goal of $3,000 raised for the Children of C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors). So, this money goes to help those children that lose a parent in the line of duty. The ride also helps promote...

What a great time at the 2017 Smilin' Irishman contest at the Tilted Kilt.

Our very own Mark Kelly brought the Shillelagh home to the San Diego Law Enforcement Emerald Society as he wowed the crowd with his knowledge of Irish heritage and whiskey (5 of 5!)

We are very proud of him but we had a secret weapon! Many thanks to the Girls of the San Diego Fire Pipes and Drums who worked relentlessly to give Mark the edge to pull out a victory!
