Be so iconic they turn your name into a dictionary entry. Also be so iconic a court strips your trademark for it 😱

✨ Genericide ✨: death of your trademark for becoming so famous, people start using it in a generic manner to refer to the product itself 💀

For example, when consumers start calling every vacuum flask or insulated bottle a “Thermos,” regardless of who actually made it, the brand name has stopped meaning this specific product form a specific company, and started meaning the whole category.

That’s when it loses its trademark rights 🪦

DISEMVOWELMENT: cute trend or trademark strategy? 🤔

Believe it or not, this is a common phrase used among trademark professionals, identifying the tactic of removing vowels from their names for different purposes: sometimes to avoid descriptive name challenges by the USPTO, or to avoid looking too similar to another named competitor, or sometimes to just be different…

For example, getting a trademark to WATERMELON WATER when you sell watermelon water is probably not going to happen… but getting it for WTR MLN WTR… now we’re talking 😎
