Good evening everyone! KRACKIN KREATIONS IS CLOSED! I just want to let our Krackin Kreations’ customers know why we closed - THE TRUTH. Not this rumor we did not pay our rent. That’s not the truth at all. So, I am going to rant a little & I never do this if you know me, but I think we need to let our customers know what happened to us. We closed due to unfortunate circumstances due to Hurricane Florence & the landlord we rented from. There is now someone that is in our the Krackin Kreations’ building that is not connected to us at all. People are asking about us & they are not telling our customers the truth. They are saying we did not pay our rent & that’s why they are there. I want to let everyone know what really occurred. We paid our rent monthly on time every month even for Sept 2018. On Sept 10th, we closed to prepare for the hurricane. We prepared the best we could. If you have been following my Facebook you saw the after pictures of our once beautiful building that we poured our heart & soul in too (it was previously an empty building for 10+ years & before that a bank). We made it what it was, but the storm took it away. There was extensive roof damage - most the shingles were off & several big holes in the roof that let in so much rain that it damaged the ceilings & made water puddles inside the store. Our front doors were broken & wide open. It literally looked like a windy rain storm happened in the building. When we got back to our store, the electricity was off for about a week in hot humid weather & we had lost everything. We had Liberty Insurance, but it did not cover anything. The building was rented so we took care of our equipment & contents, but the landlord was responsible for the building damage. We covered the roof as best we could to keep our equipment safe & got our doors closed. The landlord did not get the roof on until the end of Feb 2019 & that was 5 months after the storm - we totally could not use the building at all. It was uninhabitable. When the building got a roof, we paid rent for March 2019 & still the inside ceilings were damaged where water came through all those months & with black mold. The landowner had someone working on the ceilings. In the middle of March, we came to do the cleaning of our equipment & to get everything ready to start back up (Still the ceilings were not completed). Remember, we paid rent for March & we still could not use the building due to the ceilings. The landlord showed up on that weekend wanting back rent from Dec 2018-Feb 2019 & we told her the building was uninhabitable during that time & our lawyer told us we did not have to pay since we could not use the building. She was furious & wanted us to sign a contract now for monthly rent that was 50% more than what we were paying. We told her we needed to discuss this together & without a care or warning she told us right on the spot we needed to leave. So, that weekend turned from cleaning the store for our customers to a moving out adventure. Remember, we paid her for March & the rumors that went around said that we stopped payment on that check & that is not the truth at all. We have a copy of that check where it was cashed. They took our money & walked. On the backside of this, we found out that she was already planning to rent the building to someone else & she took our money for March rent anyway. What type of person does this to honest business owners? Also, the person that rented with her was a friend of my husband. He undercut us with her. That is the truth! I’m sorry to all our customers that the “Ice Cream Man” will not be there anymore. We did our very best & had unfortunate circumstances that everyone can learn from. I know I did. I’ve learned that there are very deceitful people in the world that you can’t trust & are dishonest in many ways. I believe in the bigger picture though (Always do the right thing & you will be okay). We are okay, but we do miss our customers & are so very sorry we couldn’t be there. I hope everyone has a great night!
