Cover vs. Concealment.

Cover or “hard cover” protects you from gunfire.

Examples of “hard cover” would be large rocks or the front end of a parked car, (behind the engine block).

Concealment protects you from observation.

Examples of concealment would be shrubbery or most walls of modern construction.

While cover can offer concealment concealment rarely offers cover.

Look at your common home and work environments. Think about opportunities to seek cover and/or concealment near you.

Now think about access to escape routes and re-evaluate your opportunities.

Our Story

In 2008, Thane Training Concepts started with a focus on non-traditional defensive tactics for certified professional law enforcement/correctional officers.

The more we taught, the more we learned. While good physical skills are very important, they are only part of the story. De-escalation and threat management skills are now essential elements to the curriculum.

De-escalation and crisis communication skills are not just for police. Everyone can benefit from an understanding of communication and de-escalation skills because, for better or worse, the first contact can set the tone of the incident.

Thane Training currently trains staff at police departments, correctional facilities, emergency dispatch centers, large hospitals, as well as for-profit and non-profit businesses.
