Last fall, Pitt McGehee Palmer Bonanni & Rivers attorneys Kevin Carlson and robert palmer, along with Founding Partner Michael Pitt and New Mexico attorney Eric Sirotkin, secured a $104.6 million jury verdict, the largest employment-related verdict in New Mexico history.

The case centered on a 2018 agreement in which Bright Green Corporation transferred five million shares of stock to Fikany as part of his employment, only to cancel those shares without his knowledge after his termination. A unanimous jury affirmed Fikany's right to the compensation he was promised.

June is Pride Month! At Pitt McGehee Palmer Bonanni & Rivers, solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community is part of who we are.

Years before marriage equality became the law of the land, our firm was in the courtroom fighting for it. Partners Beth Rivers and Michael Pitt represented Oakland County Clerk Lisa Brown in DeBoer v. Snyder, a landmark case that helped lay the groundwork for the Supreme Court's ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges, affirming same-sex marriage as a fundamental constitutional right.

Our attorneys continue to represent LGBTQ+ clients facing discrimination in the workplace and beyond. This month and every month, we stand for equality, dignity, and full legal protection for all.

Pitt McGehee Palmer Bonanni & Rivers is excited to welcome our 2026 summer law clerks.

Returning this summer is Elijah McCoy, who previously clerked with the firm and made invaluable contributions to our team.

Joining us from the University of Michigan Law School is Melissa Itzkowitz, a 2L dual JD/PhD student whose prior work spans farmworker rights, civil rights, and survivor advocacy, all of which make her a natural fit at our firm.

We also are welcoming Maya Hill, a 1L at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and a proud Detroiter, who joins us through the Wolverine Bar Association summer clerkship program. Maya brings a background in journalism, human rights advocacy, and child welfare work, along with a deep commitment to practicing law in the community that raised her.

We are proud to support the next generation of Michigan plaintiffs' attorneys, and grateful for partners like the Wolverine Bar Association who help build a stronger, more representative legal pipeline.

ICYMI: Partner Megan Bonanni published an op-ed in The Detroit News discussing the abuse of children in autism treatment centers and the systemic failures that allow it to happen.

In her piece, Megan argues that children with autism are uniquely vulnerable precisely because many cannot verbally report what is happening to them. Stronger oversight, independent monitoring, and mandatory reporting enforcement are long overdue to help ensure their safety

“Children with disabilities deserve the same safety, dignity, and protection as any other child,” Megan said.
