Here are the general steps to become a Notary:
1. Meet your state's qualifications.
2. Complete the application and pay the state filing fee.
3. Complete the Notary training and pass an exam (if applicable).
4. Complete fingerprinting and background check (if applicable).
5. Receive your commission certificate from the state.
6. Get your surety bond (if applicable).
7. File your commission paperwork, oath and bond with your Notary regulating official.
8. Buy your Notary seal, journal, certificates and any other additional supplies.
