Where to begin?
More than two years gone by since my last post and now it’s a different world.
Should I blame it on dropping my iPhone X to the bottom of a pristine lake in Canada?
Or maybe it has more to do with this little lady whose age matches the two year gap in posting.
Should I share that our adventures never ceased?
That flying back from Israel in Fall of 2019 I was watching the movie Contagion like a bad omen?
Should I confess that I grew weary of self-absorption and the look at me crowd?
Or, should I simply confess that is has been worth every moment of choosing to actually live slow.
It feels good to be back, let’s journey together because people and places need our support, admiration, and praise like never before.
Live slow.

Merry Christmas Slow Road style! Pictured is one of our favorite roadside discoveries we experienced all year, we spotted it while driving all “Slow Roads” back from New York City home to Rochester. The St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Church was built in the 1960s by Ukrainian immigrants who wanted to bring a tangible example of their faith and heritage to the Catskills region in New York. The church is modeled after a Ukrainian and Carpathian highlander blockwork style and made of cedar. Folk artists from the region and master carpenters from Ukraine 🇺🇦 came together to build and craft this beautiful church along scenic Route 23a in Hunter, NY. We couldn’t think of a better place and experience to share with you on this Christmas Day. 🎄

From my family to yours, we are wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁

Thankful for each of you and the opportunity to share our life and journeys with you as we learn more from each person and place we discover.

Isaiah 9:6

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Are you from Buffalo, or are you planning a visit over the holidays? We just visited Ellicottville this past weekend and it was lovely! Here is a list of beautiful historic building decorated for the holidays.

When I’m downtown during the holiday season, I feel a connection to generations past. This is where my parents and grandparents browsed through old-time retailers like L.L. Berger’s, Hens and Kelly’s, Hengerer’s and AM&A’s to find Christmas gifts as the snow fell outside. Retailers’ wind...

Ever sip coffee in grandeur? Crew Collective and Cafe took over what was once the Royal Bank 🏦 of Montreal that at one time was the tallest landmark in all of Canada 🇨🇦. This is a MUST visit when visiting old Montreal. The 50 foot ceilings and cathedral ceilings will leave you in awe.

The streets of old Montreal bustle with activity and expression. Take this shot for example which captures a beautiful neo-Gothic building as both a canvas and mirror. The intricate building reflects activity inside and out and captures the woman who sits at her window watching as all of us walk by in the street below. Meanwhile the sky and clouds reflect from above creating a surreal scene. I remember the woman in the window looking my way right after I took this photo, I couldn’t figure out if she was surprised I noticed her or expected she would become part of a visitors capture as she sat there.

Had the most Wonderful weekend visiting holiday events and making memories with friends and family. We visited Clifton Springs, Geneva, and visited the wonderful in Martin Luther King Park in downtown Rochester. This year I have been struck by just how timeless the holidays really are. Just think about it, how many families have gathered to find comfort and joy with one another in places small and large? It felt most appropriate to capture this image in black and white and marvel at how it could have looked exactly the same if taken generations before. I hope you are finding the time to enjoy small escapes with the ones you love as we bid 2018 adieu!

An incredible resource to WNY that is one of our best kept cold weather secret destinations may be getting an expansion soon! Do you remember when we featured it in our third pilot episode? https://vimeo.com/129825643

As many of you may know - we were one of the first to advocate for public space as the future of Parcel 5! We are pleased to share a major development that RBTL is now moving to the Genesee River and that the City of Rochester will consider community input for the future of Parcel 5!

The Rochester Broadway Theatre League will get its new theater. But it won't be on Parcel 5. It'll be by the river, part of a large, $250 million multi-use complex on the site of the former Radisson Riverside Hotel on East Main Street, across the street from the Riverside Convention Center.

Greetings from Arrowsic, Maine! We are doing all we can to prolong summer by visiting the coast! We are thankful to be treated to a beautiful cabin courtesy of extended family. Pictured is the charming Doubling Point Light c. 1898 the light has been shining for well over 100 years. Trying to discover all of the quiet and tranquil tucked away places like this gem.

July really was the most amazing month. We are just now catching up from the actual experiences and now beginning to reminisce. Here is Verdun, Quebec one of the oldest cities in 🇨🇦 founded in 1671. The magnificent Église Notre Dame Des Sept Douleurs or Our Lady of Seven Pains Church towers above the hip coffee shops, restaurants and boutiques on Rue Wellington. This now borough of Montreal was a perfect romantic getaway and gateway to the rest of the city.
