Adventure Walkers

Another guitarist, Frank Zappa, talking about playing guitars, specifically soloing, but he could be talking about play and Adventure Walkers. It’s best to listen to the entire bit but here are some highlights (changed here to talk about children playing)
• (children) have a basic mechanical knowledge of the operation of their (body) and they have an imagination.
• when it’s play, it’s me against the laws of nature
• I don’t know what I’m gonna play,
• the real fun is playing live
• if you have to play the (same everyday), it’s like punching a clock. Who needs that.
• I’ll take the chance to make a mistake for the privilege of doing something unique
• (play) is when you have a piece of time and you get to decorate it.

2 children: MrJim we built a secret fort over there.
MrJim: sweet

Today:
2 children: wanna see our secret fort. We finished it.
MrJim: of course
2 children: we used erosion creek for trail
MrJim: that’s smart. But I’m not gonna go back there. I don’t wanna disturb nature too much and maybe give away your secret spot. Could you take a picture?

Reflective Practice

“I wanted to swing”

I wanted to swing
In a quiet place
And try to catch
a breezy embrace.

So I took a rope
And a rag tag lot
And we headed n2
A foresty spot.

I had some help
In tying the knots
I climbed aboard
And off I shot.

Smooth as silk
I started to glide
But that wasn’t even
The best ride.

A little boy,
Who joined us that day.
Sauntered over,
While we were away.

His day had been filled,
With ups and down,
He had been content,
But a little frown.

But by himself
With the ropes to brace
His eyes lit
His rope could trace.
An ellipse, revolution
About his face.

I wanted to swing
In a quiet place
And passed along
A breezy embrace.
