Kim has served as a Deputy Sheriff since 2005, but her career tragically ended while working as a Detective; she was hit by a person driving under the influence. Kim was left with a painful, debilitating condition called Dystonia

Although Kim sustained substantial bodily injury from the accident, she did not stop but chased down the driver to ensure he did not injure others. Workers Compensation

and CCMSI have not gotten Kim treatment for her industrial-related injury: Dystonia. Lack of treatment has worsened her condition and caused a severe, lifetime disability. If Kim had been treated early and appropriately, she would not have been suffering the way she is today. Kim has prevailed through the Nevada Department of Administration hearings and appeals offices and the District Court of Nevada, yet has still not received payment of benefits or appropriate treatment. Nevada had a "Bad Faith" clause keeping injured workers safe with checks and balances. Nevada removed the clause; their reasoning was to reduce false claims. Instead, Nevada has effectively removed oversight and has become a system that automatically denies claims and forces the victim of on-the-job injuries to suffer through being refused medical treatment, being forced into attorneys fees and costly court battles. Despite Kim's pain and inability to return to what she knew as normal, she is taking on a new challenge. Kim has been an athlete her entire life. Her new competition is to address this broken system, be the voice for Nevada workers and change Nevada Law. The height of Kim's career was working as a Detective in the Crimes Against Children Unit. Kim has been awarded for her heroism over the years, including the Sheriff's Bronze Star, law enforcement officer of the year and the National law enforcement officer of the year by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
