🚡 Bike the Vote: Voter Registration Closes Soon πŸ—³οΈ

California uses a β€œTop-Two” primary system for most state and federal races. That means the June primary is the ultimate filter that decides which two candidates β€” regardless of party β€” advance to the November ballot.

For advocates of trails and public lands, this is often the most important moment to speak up. In many districts, the primary is the only time voters have a real choice between different approaches to conservation, recreation, and infrastructure policy.

Your June vote is one of the best opportunity to shape the future of California’s trails and public lands use policies.

Fact vs. Fiction: The USFS Roadless Rule
πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ MYTH: Roadless Areas are "locked up" and meant to keep people out.
βœ… FACT: Roadless Areas provide high-quality, undisturbed public lands experiences. They contain 25k+ miles of recreational trails, including 10k+ miles of trail open to MTBs.

🚳 MYTH: Roadless Areas aren't open to Motos.
βœ… FACT: Roadless areas contain 9k+ miles of OHV accessible routes in the western states. That's 33% of all moto accessible miles!

πŸ”₯ MYTH: You can’t manage forests for wildfires in a roadless areas
βœ… FACT: Commercial logging is prohibited, but stewardship-based forest management and restoration cutting including fuels reduction and active firefighting are explicitly allowed.

The draft EIS and proposed Roadless Rule rescission are expected in the coming weeks. When it drops, public input will matter.

An E-Moto is not an E-Bike. Let’s make it official!

The terminology we use defines the access we keep. Currently, high-powered electric motorcycles (some hitting 30+ mph with 3,750W motors) are being marketed as "e-bikes." This creates a massive headache for land managers and puts traditional cyclists and pedal-assist riders at risk of losing trail access due to the actions of motorized vehicles.

CAMTB is proud to stand with , , and in support of SB 1167 (Blakespear).

Why it matters:
πŸ‘‰ Clear Definitions: SB 1167 draws a hard line between low-powered pedal-assist e-bikes and high-powered/high-speed e-motos and e-mopeds.
πŸ‘‰ Consumer Protection: It makes it illegal to market a motor-driven cycle as an "e-bike."
πŸ‘‰ Protecting Access: When land managers see a 40mph machine on a multi-use trail, they often blame "e-bikes." By reclassifying these as mopeds or motorcycles, we protect the rights of actual cyclists.

The bottom line: Clear boundaries protect our trails. We’re fighting to ensure that high-powered machines don't jeopardize the progress we've made for the cycling community.
