How to Decide Between a Starter Home and a Forever Home
Starter home or forever home? Here's the thing — most buyers approach this question backward. They start by browsing listings and then try to figure out what they're actually looking for. But the starter-versus-forever decision really needs to come first, because it shapes everything: your budget,...

What to Look for in a Home Inspection Report
You've made an offer, it's been accepted, and now comes one of the most important steps in the buying process: the home inspection. The report that follows can run anywhere from 20 to 100 pages. That's a lot of information, and knowing how to read it makes all the difference.

How to Assess Natural Light When Touring Homes
Natural light is one of those qualities that listing photos don't always capture accurately. A room that looks bright and airy in listing photos might tell a different story in person — and the reverse is just as true. When you're touring homes, taking a few extra minutes to evaluate how light moves...

Buying a home is one of the most significant financial decisions you'll ever make, and if you've been searching for a while, the phrase "move-in ready" probably sounds like music to your ears. But what does it actually mean, and how do you know if a home truly lives up to that description? Before you...

What Buyers Should Know About Flood Risk and Insurance
Flooding isn't usually top of mind when you're touring open houses. You're focused on countertops, closet space, and whether the backyard is big enough. Flood risk tends to sit near the bottom of the list—until it suddenly doesn't. Buyers who overlook it can face insurance costs they didn't anticipate,...

Most Realtors will tell you how fast they can get you into a home.

I’d rather tell you how to keep you out of a bad deal.

I’m John D. Mason with Keyes Company, and I work with buyers, renters, and homeowners here in Florida who want to make smart moves—not rushed ones.

If you’ve ever:
• Felt unsure about rental requirements (first, last, security… and still issues after)
• Wondered if new construction is actually worth it
• Questioned if you’re overpaying in today’s market
• Or just want someone to break things down in plain English

That’s where I come in.

I’m big on real conversations, not sales pitches.
If something doesn’t make sense, I’ll tell you.
If a deal isn’t right, I’ll say it—even if it costs me.

Whether you’re:
🏡 Buying your first home
🔑 Renting and tired of the runaround
📍 Thinking about making a move soon

I’m here as a resource first.

Even if you just have a question—reach out. No pressure.

Let’s help each other out.

Treasure Coast Neighbors — I want your opinion! 🏡

For those buying or owning here in the Treasure Coast…
What do you think is the better move right now:

👉 Resale homes
👉 New construction homes

I’m seeing both sides lately:

New construction = modern layouts, energy efficiency, builder incentives
Resale homes = better locations, established neighborhoods, sometimes better long-term value

Some data even shows resale homes can appreciate faster due to location and scarcity, while new builds offer lower maintenance early on and warranties

But real life > stats 👇

💬 If you’ve bought recently (or are thinking about it):

What did you choose and why?
Anything you regret or would do differently?
Are builder incentives swaying people right now?

I’d love to hear what people are actually experiencing here on the Treasure Coast — buyers, homeowners, and even renters thinking about making the jump.

Let’s help each other out 👍
