A survivor should never have to sit in a courtroom wondering whether their pain will be taken seriously because they drank alcohol, wore a short skirt, stayed in a relationship, or did not react to trauma the way people expected them to.
That is not justice. That is cruelty disguised as credibility.
For years, survivors have been torn apart by questions designed to shame them instead of expose the person who caused the harm in the first place. Entire lives have been picked apart while the focus shifts away from the abuse and onto the survivor’s behavior, clothing, relationships, or coping mechanisms.
Enough.
Trauma is messy. Survival is messy. Human beings are messy. None of that makes abuse acceptable and none of it makes a survivor less worthy of being believed.
These conversations matter because there are still people sitting in silence right now convinced they will be blamed if they speak up.
That silence is costing people their voices, their healing, and sometimes even their lives.
Thank you to Beyond the Monsters for being willing to have the conversations so many people still avoid.
The reality of trauma, CSA cases, family court, victim blaming, survival, and healing deserves to be talked about openly because survivors deserve better than silence.
