Announcement as counsel for Mr. Todd Hogue – who was unjustly accused of a crime by Slippery Rock Mayor Jondavid Longo. Mr. Hogue has been fully exonerated, and all charges against him have been withdrawn.

Gilliland Vanasdale Law Office, LLC is proud to announce that the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office has officially withdrawn all charges initiated by Mayor Longo against our client, Mr. Todd Hogue. The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office was referred to this matter after it originated with the Butler County District Attorney’s Office. The withdrawal of all charges confirms what was evident to us from the outset— this case should never have been brought.

We appreciate the careful review conducted by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office and the cooperation of the Slippery Rock Borough Police Chief during this process. As a result of this comprehensive evaluation, all charges against our client have been withdrawn.

As we stated at the onset, it is our opinion that our client was a victim of Longo’s abusive and hateful rhetoric. We believe that Longo, in his position as Mayor of Slippery Rock, then retaliated and pursued selective political prosecution against our client. No one should ever be subjected to unwarranted criminal action simply because of disagreements, public debates, or personal viewpoints, regardless of who is involved. Fortunately, our client has been fully vindicated, and all charges have been withdrawn.

Mr. Hogue, who has always been innocent, is now working to clear his name following what we view as Longo’s lies of sensational claims. We are proud to have stood up for our client and for justice, and we are pleased that our client — and justice — won.

Message of Elder Care Circumstance as GV Law Embarks 25 Years of Standing Up for Justice, our Clients, Community, and Families ~

As we approach the 25th anniversary of standing up for justice and our valued clients, we at Gilliland Vanasdale Law Office, LLC express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to our very valued clients and community for your business and support.

We firmly believe that the health and well-being of our clients, community, and families are of utmost importance.

As many of you know, caring for family members, especially aging parents, can be challenging yet incredibly rewarding. We are fortunate to have the ability to provide assistance in such situations.

Over the past weekend, following a successful day of baking holiday cookies, Jen’s mother unfortunately had another fall in Florida. As a result, Jen has made a commitment to her mother’s care and will remain by her side. While most of our work can be done remotely, Jen is currently unable to travel or appear in court.

Considering this situation, we plan to temporarily pause accepting new clients. We also plan to seek remote court appearances, continuances, or coverage as Gary, Mary or other co-counsel (as applicable) are available with client consent for any court appearances through February 1. In-office document signings and filings of legal documents will continue as usual with the professional assistance of our paralegal, notaries, and runner.

We appreciate your patience during this time. This period will provide us with the opportunity to focus on family commitments while working together to help our valued clients that we currently serve.

We are profoundly grateful for the trust and confidence you have placed in our law office as we embark on our milestone to celebrate 25 years of dedicated pursuit of justice for all. We wish you and your family good health, joy and justice throughout this holiday season, the New Year, and always.

Supplemental Statement on behalf of our client, Mr. Todd Hogue – in response to recent coverage of the accusations against him by Slippery Rock Mayor Jondavid Longo

We are proud to state that following our notice of representation of Mr. Hogue, the Slippery Rock Chief of Police amended and dismissed the unsubstantiated felony charge against our client before any court proceedings began.

We express our gratitude to the Chief for this significant step towards justice.

The remaining lower-level charges initiated by Slippery Rock Borough candidate for Mayor Longo, who is attempting to prosecute and silence free speech in retaliation for our client’s defense and views, are subject to a preliminary hearing to occur in the new year at the Slippery Rock District Court.

Thank you for your attention to this matter and please VOTE - Freedom is on the ballot.

Dear Butler County Citizens,

I love standing for truth and justice for our valued clients in Butler County and beyond. When I saw problems with our Butler County Courthouse, I tried to fix them by running for Judge and DA. During that process, I ran in a bipartisan manner and was proud to earn substantial support as an independent. Justice should never be political.

As any good attorney would, I fought for important issues that were hurting our families and community – to improve safety and sentencing and to render fair justice without nepotism, favoritism, bias, waste, and abuse.

Sadly, the Butler County residents who vote in municipal elections (on average less than 30,000 vote in comparison to the over 198,000 in population) is just not large enough to overcome the misinformation spread and to bring the change needed at this time.

Now, the taxpayers will add another judgeship even though we do not need a 7th Common Pleas Judge. The 2023 Common Pleas Judicial Needs Assessment Project determined that Butler County had one too many Common Pleas Judges at our local courthouse. But instead of losing a judge, the taxpayers will bear the multi-million-dollar cost of a new Judge with new staff and space.

The new Judges elected at the primary are familiar faces, a son of a sitting judge and a husband of a sitting state representative. People ask if my husband, Attorney Gary Vanasdale, and/or I will run against them in the Fall as Independents. While we would like to keep fighting for change in our courthouse, and to use our extensive experience to serve our community, our commitment at this time must be with our practice and our family – to include helping with care while enjoying our aging parents.

Even though I could not bring all the change that I continue to believe is needed in our courthouse, I am proud that we tried and the impact that we have made. I am beyond thankful and grateful for all the support, especially from our valued clients during the past 24 years in business. I am forever fortunate for all that Butler County has provided to me since being adopted here over 50 years ago!

Moving forward, I am proud to announce that Gary and I are working with a close colleague, Attorney Mary Bower Sheats, who like us has earned the highest rating possible for professional excellence. For more than 20 years, we have worked with Mary in various cases, and we are honored to have her affiliate with our firm of counsel.

In addition, we are pleased to have the privilege of working again with Attorney Alaine Generelli as co-counsel on certain cases capitalizing on her zealous advocacy and more than 15 years of diverse legal talent. Together, along with our superb paralegal Anna Ferrucci, we will continue the tradition of standing up for justice using our substantial experience and determination to obtain successful results for our clients and their families.

May God continue to bless and bring justice for all,

~ Jen GV Gilliland Vanasdale
