Drug and alcohol issues are increasingly common these days and I deal with them often in custody cases. They cause divorces, separations, form the basis for grandparent custody petitions, even modification petitions in cases where the parties have shared custody amicably for years. Other times, people come to the Court with meaningful recovery and are trying to get back involved in their children’s lives. Unfortunately, sometimes there are safety issues that need to be addressed and Court is the only option. While most of the time, the person seeking the modification just wants the other person to get help, but there also times where allegations are exaggerated or fabricated to gain advantage in litigation. If you have ever gone through a divorce or a custody dispute, one thing that I'm sure you remember is anxiety. There are so many things on your mind, it can be overwhelming, and coping is difficult. Effective July 6, 2020 the mailing address for the Law Office of Jesse I. Weidaw will be 3115 Laurel Ridge Circle, Bridgeville PA 15017. Our existing clients shouldn't expect any change in service and I'm excited to be able to provide more extensive coverage in the South Hills. It's a very exciting time and a really positive change.

Our Courts will begin to open in Western Pennsylvania on Monday, May 4th. I’ll available for phone/video conferences for new and existing clients this weekend (you can make an appointment on the website), and I will be open for business Monday while continuing to utilize best practices regarding social distancing to the fullest extent possible. I hope that everyone is, and continues to be, safe and healthy, while finding sometime to enjoy their weekend.

So it feels like we're "getting real" with COVID-19 disruptions. Such as it is, I already work from home so by and large, there should be no major disruptions to client services. If you need something, call or email, just like always.

If you have Court coming up, as it stands presently, everything is still on. If that changes, I will let you know directly. Unless I get sick, I will be in Court for all scheduled appearances.

Finally, for custody clients if you haven't already you need to start making plans for child care disruptions relative to this. Presently the Courts are still open, but that may not be the case in the near future.

Stay safe, wash your hands and take of yourselves.
