“Noise induces stress. The cacophony of daily life can best be countered by immersion in the outdoors,” Brook Lenker, executive director, Keystone Trails Association, said during a meeting Tuesday of the House Game and Fisheries Committee.

“Many people will avoid hiking if hunting activity is imminent,” Lenker said.

HARRISBURG — A push continues to end Pennsylvania’s restriction on Sunday hunting but as sportsmen find conditional support among farmers, there remains considerable pushback from those who want to preserve

Every time I see one of these spear-style fences, I remember Mary Ann Baron first telling me how treacherous they can be. Deer on the run can, and sometimes do, get stuck on fences when trying to c…

More fawns die from unnecessary human intervention, cars, and domestic dogs than from wild predators. Also, there are bacterial, fungal and viral infections they become ill and die from, and are then easily taken by predators because this is the way other nature intends things to be. This is why deer have more than one fawn. Momma deer do not stay near their young when they are under three weeks old! They don't abandon their young. They are hiding nearby, and will come back at dusk to feed them , but only if the humans and their dogs have left the area. Stay away! That will save many fawn lives.

This Tuesday, April 16th at 6 pm there will be a program at the tent near Valley Green Inn with
game keepers speaking about how to live with wild animals such as coyotes and others. It is free and open to the public. Please join us as we advocate for letting the deer live free in the Wissahickon Park. Contact me at maryann [email protected] with any questions.

Interviewed by a reporter from the on line newspaper Billy Penn. Gave a history of PAD and especially that 20 years of killing the deer is not working. Stressed that the Mayor, City of Philadelphia,
and Dept of Parks & Rec and City Council must step up to hold public meetings to get feedback from neighbors who are traumatized from hearing gun shots and seeing deer shot near
their homes. Please contact Cindy Bass, Councilwoman, to oppose
the continuation of the killing by calling 215-686-3424 or go to her web page to email a comment.
