Today, more than 130 people came together for the SHINE Walk, walking in support of survivors of s*xual assault and sending a powerful message that survivors are seen, believed, and supported.

Our team was honored to be there alongside our community and to share why this work matters so deeply.

“Each year, approximately 14,000 children are seen by Children’s Advocacy Centers across Pennsylvania. At the Children’s Advocacy Center of NEPA, we saw over 655 children last year alone. 655 is not a number. It is 655 children who needed adults to step in.

And it is 655 opportunities for us to get what happens next right.”

As both a survivor and an attorney who only represents survivors, this work is deeply personal to me.

I had to remove the most beautiful note I’ve received from another woman (Dolly) bc the trolls were unbearable.

We live in a cruel world and tear others down and then we complain about how fu**ed up the world is.

Be a good person, don’t hide behind a computer, stand for something, and do something worth while.

To the haters - you aren’t affecting me. You are just noise.

But to be clear: using your voice to be cruel does NOT matter.
You are not leaving the world better.
You are noise.
No one cares.

Speak about things that matter.
Stand for something that matters.
Matter in your lifetime.
MATTER.

Get • Right now, has strict statutes of limitations—time limits that determine how long s*x assault survivors have to file criminal or civil lawsuits.

For many those deadlines expire long before they have recovered enough from the trauma to even speak up, much less think about legal action.

Many states have created “lookback windows” to address that reality. Pennsylvania has not.

This is why legislation matters. Laws vary state by state, and those differences can decide whether survivors are heard or shut out.

, a survivor, advocate and attorney continues to push for a “lookback window” because should not have an expiration date. Many other states have already passed lookback windows, such as and so it’s time for Pennsylvania to do the same!
