Golf is optional in Heritage Plantation, and it's worth being direct about that, because it's the single most common misunderstanding we hear about the community.
The Heritage Club is a par-71 public golf course that runs through the middle of the neighborhood — the community was developed around the course, carefully, which is why so many homesites have real golf views instead of a glimpse of a cart path. But a club membership is optional. It isn't required to own here, and it isn't bundled into what every homeowner pays.
What every homeowner does share is a marina on the Waccamaw River and Intracoastal Waterway, an owners' clubhouse, a pool, tennis and pickleball courts — along with covenants that keep the neighborhood full-time rather than a rotating cast of short-term renters. No condos, no weekly turnover. Just the same neighbors, year after year.
We've been walking buyers through the difference between what's included and what's optional since 1990. We've put together a full buyer's guide to Heritage Plantation, with more detail than a caption allows — you'll find it on our website.
