Court Updates Concerning Coronavirus

The Courts are open.
In an effort to reduce the risk of COVID-19 exposure, all courthouses will be closed each Friday beginning March 27, 2020 through and including May 1, 2020.
Court closures: March 27, April 3, April 10, April 17, April 24, May 1
Citizens of Palm Beach County:
The Chief Judge and Judges of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit are concerned about your health and safety. The Circuit has taken steps to help ensure that the courts can continue to operate safely including asking the County to implement more frequent cleaning at all "high contact" surfaces in the courthouses.

Today, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Florida entered Administrative Order AOSC20-13. The order suspends all grand jury proceedings, jury selection proceedings, and criminal and civil jury trials beginning Monday, March 16, 2020 through Friday, March 27, 2020.

At this point in time, the courts of the Circuit are proceeding with all court events with the exception of those outlined in paragraph 2 on page 3 (and listed above). Therefore, if you have a scheduled court hearing and it is not a jury trial, you must appear either in person or telephonically. If you wish to appear telephonically, please contact your attorney. If you do not have an attorney you must contact the divisional judge's office in advance. The courthouses are open.

Please continue to monitor the Circuit's webpage and the Circuit's HOTLINE at 561-233-0344 for more information.

The Court is also requesting your assistance in limiting the spread of COVID-19.

Please do not come to any of the courthouses if you:

Are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, or shortness of breath)
Have been diagnosed with or have had contact with anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19
Have been asked to self-quarantine by any doctor, hospital, or health agency
Have recently travelled from an area with widespread COVID-19 or have had close contact with someone who recently travelled from an area with widespread COVID-19
If you fall within any of the above categories and are required to report or appear in court, you should proceed as follows:

The second letter (scroll down), written by two friends and colleagues of mine, explains how unregulated attorney solicitation by mail can be so dangerous for domestic violence victims. This is an extremely important issue that victims getting divorced need to be aware of!!! Worth a read for sure!!!❤️
