I have occasionally shared my (now 15) years of work with prisoners on this platform. You may be interested in watching this little seen part of our criminal justice system; the Clemency and Pardons Board. My friend Anthony Wright's hearing yesterday, starts at 4:10:20. There is more to the story (which I will gladly share privately , if anyone is interested). Anthony is a young man who was recently diagnosed with cancer. Even absent the illness, I have advocated for Anthony's release and I believe it is fair and just to commute or pardon him. Concerned Lifers Organization

Kimonti Carter has been my friend for almost 15 years. I met him in prison and was supportive of his quest to be released. When he got out, it was a great day for many of us who know him best. When you read this article, you may or may not be sympathetic to his plight. My years working in the prison made me appreciate how complicated these issues can be and taught me that sometimes forgiveness is just about keeping the conversation open. As a lawyer I am hopeful that the issues can be resolved (and the prosecutor's position is not without merit) but I hope the system can keep Kimonti free while the legislature and the courts address this.

A remarkable Washington ruling resulted in Carter’s resentencing. And a remarkable legal case could send him back after more than a year and a half of freedom.
