Our participants currently utilize two evidence based treatment
programs that are run by Specialized Outpatient Services (SOS). The programs are Strengthening Families Program (SFP) and Celebrating Families.
SFP is a nationally and internationally recognized parenting and family strengthening program for both high-risk and regular families. SFP is an evidence-based family skills training program found to significantly reduce problem behaviors, delinquency, alcohol and drug abuse in children, and to improve social competencies and school performance. Child maltreatment also decreases as parents strengthen bonds with their children and learn more effective parenting skills.
The Celebrating Families!™ curriculum is an evidence based cognitive behavioral, support group model written for families in which one or both parents have a serious problem with alcohol or other drugs and in which there is a high risk for domestic violence, child abuse or neglect. Celebrating Families!™ works with every member of the family, from ages 3 through adult, to strengthen recovery from alcohol and/or other drugs, break the cycle of addiction and increase successful family reunification.

How the Referral Process Works
Please first speak with the potential participants and see if they would like to apply for Family Drug Court. Please remember this is a voluntary program. If they would like more information first, get them to verbally agree that the Family Drug Court Coordinator may speak with them in regards to their case (add to case notes that a verbal consent was given, if applicable).
Fill out the Oklahoma County Family Drug Court Referral Form and Consent for Disclosure of Confidential Information Form and e-mail it to the Family Drug Court Coordinator. You can e-mail the Family Drug Court Coordinator for the Referral Form and Consent Form. If you cannot get the consent form signed, please document that a verbal consent was given by potential participant. Once the Coordinator has the forms she will contact the current OKDHS Worker and request a social history, any
assessments available and case summary. Coordinator will then contact the family and schedule a screening interview. Once the screening interview is complete the Coordinator will contact one of the contracted treatment providers to complete a substance abuse assessment with the family if one has not been recently completed.
Once all information is received by Coordinator, the Coordinator will then ensure the family is on the Family Drug Court Docket (if they look like they meet all general qualifications). Drug Court Team will review the family to see if they are accepted into the Family Drug Court at that Family Drug Court docket date.
The Oklahoma County Family Drug Court Program is a court-supervised comprehensive program for parents who have children removed and placed into OKDHS custody due to substance abuse issues.
The Oklahoma County Family Drug Court links the court system with drug and alcohol treatment. The Judge, defense attorneys, children’s attorney, prosecutor, child welfare worker, treatment counselors, CASA, CHBS, and family drug court coordinator all work together to supervise and assist the individual in becoming drug and alcohol free and remaining that way.
The Oklahoma County Family Drug Court is an intensely supervised, court monitored program. This program uses incentives and sanctions to help guide behavior of the clients. Treatment is assessed on an individual basis and the Family Drug Court Team work together to help the client succeed in their goal of becoming drug and alcohol free.
Family Drug Court helps to ensure children return to safe, nurturing homes, with caregivers free from substance abuse.
Oklahoma County Family Drug Court
Aside from substance abuse treatment, Family Drug Court uses a program through Specialized Outpatient Services (SOS) called the Strengthening Families Program (SFP). The SFP program is a 14-session, evidence-based parenting skills, children's life skills, and family life skills training program specifically designed for high-risk families. Parents and children participate in SFP both separately and together. In order to keep this program running, we are in dire need of volunteers to help with cooking the family meals, clean up, or working with the children in the children rooms. Currently the times needed would be on Thursday evenings, starting in October. Anyone interested in volunteering would just need to let us know and we can write out a schedule for the times you are available.
