Wednesday, December 8th, 2021 at 12PM Eastern Time, Douglas Gransberg Ph.D., PE will be presenting to AACE Boston Section. The Meeting Topic is Implementing Project Constructability.

Constructability is the integration of construction expertise into all phases of the project to benefit the cost, schedule, quality, and overall project objectives. The successful use of construction knowledge and expertise increases the probability of project success. Constructability Reviews should be conducted at key points in the project life cycle.

The presentation will discuss how to implement a constructability program in order to maximize the positive impact on the project.

Gransberg & Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract to act as the Oregon Department of Transportation's Alternative Project Delivery General Engineering Consultant. We will be assisting ODOT in the development of design-build, construction manager/general contractor and indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contracts. We are partnered with BGE of Dallas, Multi-Tech Engineering of Salem Oregon, and Auburn University. This contract is similar to the one we were awarded last November as a subconsultant to WSB of Minneapolis with the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Active Continuing Education Systems, LLC is currently working on delivering four new courses to EAS Contracting, LP. The courses completed thus far are Contracts, Scheduling, and Project Action Planning. The final course will cover Forensic Schedule Analysis. G&A has been awarded a management consulting services contract with the US Fish and Wildlife Service to assist in transforming the USFWS Engineering, Facilities, and Contracting programs to streamline and standardize infrastructure and construction management to establish standard procedures that will facilitate efficient project delivery across the service. Part of this initiative will be to develop nationwide design-build, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contracts for use by all Department of Interior Bureaus. Additionally, ACES, a G&A subsidiary, will commence a second round of design-build training for USFWS and National Park Services engineers in the near future.

She has a Master of Science Degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. Gransberg and Associates have again teamed up with David Jeong and KC Choi with Texas A&M University for another research project. NCHRP 15-71 will focus on Contingency Factors to Account for Risk in Early Construction Cost Estimates for Transportation Infrastructure Projects. G&A will be focused on risk-based and data-driven estimating for projects, as well as writing the technical memorandum for NCHRP review. G&A will participate in developing a practitioner-ready guidebook for improving early construction cost estimates, a technical report documenting the overall research efforts, and other required deliverables.

PM Opportunity in Chattanooga, TN:

PM at the Chattanooga TN VW plant Sep-Dec 2020 (could be longer and have other projects too) to install a multiple conveyor belt and assembly line systems in the body shop area of the plant.

1. Job is intense with 10 hour workdays for 6 days per week for about 14-16 weeks. Starts Sep 2020.
2. JV will provide all blue collar (experienced in conveyor/lift systems installation) ) technicians, tools, materials, equipment, supplies and permits, etc.
3. PM documents progress, identify issues with the quality, safety or schedule and coordinate with the client (VW) as an Owner Representative.
4. Mechanical Engineer preferred but anyone with PM experience will do.
5. Spanish speaking is plus.
6. Lodging (furnished apartment) and office space (project Site trailer with toilet, etc.) are provided.
7. PM must have his/her own computer, car and cell phone.
8. Need a PM Lump Sum fixed monthly rate… or prorated for partial months.
9. Insurance liability not required.

Could be opportunity for more projects at this VW plant immediate following.
