🇺🇸 Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🇺🇸
Today, we celebrate 250 years of the United States - a nation built through the courage, sacrifice, and determination of generations who believed in the promise of liberty.
Among them were countless Irish men and women. From those who fought for independence during the American Revolution to the millions who helped build our canals, railroads, cities, churches, schools, and neighborhoods, the Irish have long been woven into the fabric of our nation's story. Irish Americans have proudly served in our military, answered the call in public service, and for generations have stood the line as police officers, firefighters, teachers, and community leaders.
The NYPD Emerald Society is proud to carry forward that legacy of service, faith, family, and community.
As we celebrate America's 250th anniversary, we honor not only our Irish heritage, but the shared ideals that unite us all - freedom, opportunity, and service to something greater than ourselves.
This Independence Day also marks an extraordinary moment for New York City. As hundreds of thousands gather for the remarkable Sail250 celebration, the iconic Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks, and the excitement surrounding the FIFA World Cup, members of the NYPD will once again stand watch over these world-class events to help keep our city safe.
To all those working this Fourth of July, thank you for your professionalism, dedication, and sacrifice. Please stay safe, stay hydrated, look out for one another, and enjoy the day whenever your tour allows.
Here's to the next 250 years.
Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸☘️
