From 1 March 2026, the minimum annual remuneration increased to €36,605, up from €34,000.

🎓 Post-Study Work Option

• Level 9 or above: up to 24 months

💶 The €36,605 threshold is based on a 39-hour working week, equivalent to €18.05 per hour.

🇳🇿 NEW ZEALAND EXPANDS POST-STUDY WORK OPTIONS FROM NOVEMBER 2026

From 16 November 2026, New Zealand is introducing a new graduate work visa and expanding eligibility for its Post-Study Work Visa.

🎓 NEW Short-Term Graduate Work Visa

• Up to 6 months of open work rights
• For eligible Level 5–7 graduates who do not qualify for a PSWV
• Minimum NZD 5,000 in available funds
• At least 24 weeks of full-time study in New Zealand

📚 NEW PSWV OPTION — LEVEL 7 GRADUATE DIPLOMA

Eligible graduates can qualify for a PSWV of up to 1 year if they:
• Complete an eligible Level 7 Graduate Diploma
• Study full-time in New Zealand for the full duration
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree from New Zealand or overseas

🇦🇺 Australia Announces Tighter Family Visa Rules for International Students

The Australian Home Affairs Minister, Tony Burke, formally announced the changes at the National Press Club in Canberra on Thursday, 17 September 2026.

Australia has announced major changes to its Student visa system, restricting secondary applicants on most Student visas.

Most new international students will no longer be able to bring their spouse/partner or dependent children to Australia on their Student visa.

👨‍👩‍👧 Family Visa Restrictions

45,991 secondary applicants — mainly partners and dependent children — were granted Student visas in the last financial year, accounting for approximately 14% of Student visa grants.

Who may still bring family?
Limited exceptions will apply to higher-degree research students, such as PhD students, and specified Pacific and ASEAN nationals.

🔄 Visa Hopping to be Restricted
Australia is also moving to stop students from repeatedly changing courses or education providers primarily to extend their stay.

Under the new approach, students will be expected to progress upward through the qualification level — for example:
Diploma → Bachelor’s → Master’s
