If you import dietary supplements to the United States you must file a prior notice with the FDA before shipping in order to avoid being refused admission at the port of entry.

Importers of dietary supplements must file a Prior Notice with the FDA prior to each shipment to the United States. Failure to file an FDA Prior Notice will result your shipment being refused entry.

You may need to get on the FDA Export List if you are planning on exporting food to the EU or China.

Many countries (such as the European Union and China) require certain food products be certified by the FDA to be imported. Certified products can be found on the FDA Export List.

Exporting food or supplements to foreign countries? You may need an export certificate from the FDA.

Many foreign countries and customers will require a “certificate” for each shipment from the United States. While not required, the U.S. FDA may issue certain export certificates upon request.
