In order to qualify for Naturalization or as commonly referred to as becoming a U.S. Citizen, the applicant must have the fallowing characteristics:
1. Be at least 18 years of age at the moment the application is submitted to the USCIS.
2.Be a Permanent Resident for at least 5 years, or 3 years if you have been married and continue to be married to a U.S. Citizen.
3.Be a person of good moral character
4.Have a basic knowledge of U.S. government, this can be exempted if you have been a Permanent Resident living in the U.S. for over 20 years and are 50 years of age or older, If you are 55 years of age or older then the you only need to have been a Permanent Resident for over 15 years.
5. Take the naturalization test.
