(PRBA) was founded in 1957. Its purpose is to offer both personal and professional support to Puerto Rican and Latino attorneys and address the concerns of a rapidly growing Latino community. The PRBA represents the interests of attorneys, judges, law professors, and students of Latino descent who share a common interest in fostering professional development in the legal community and addressing issues that are important not only to the Puerto Rican community but the Latino community as a whole.

Join the Nassau County Supreme Court for a Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration honoring the rich history, vibrant culture, and contributions of the Hispanic and Latino community.

This year’s theme, “Unidos, Somos Más” (Together, We Are More), celebrates the strength found in unity, heritage, and shared community.

The event will feature a keynote address from Hon. Carmen Beauchamp Ciparick, the first Hispanic judge on New York’s Court of Appeals, alongside cultural performances by the Valley Stream Central High School Choir, refreshments, and opportunities to connect with community members and legal professionals.

Join us in recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month by attending A Night at the Court: Méndez v. Westminster, a special reenactment of the landmark case that helped dismantle school segregation for Mexican American students in California and laid the groundwork for future civil rights victories.

Presented by the Hispanic National Bar Association in cosponsorship with the Latino Judges Association and the Latin American Law Students Association at Fordham Law School, this event offers an opportunity to reflect on the history of civil rights and its lasting impact.
