(PRBA) was founded in 1957. Its purpose is to offer both personal and professional support to Puerto Rican and Latino attorneys and address the concerns of a rapidly growing Latino community. The PRBA represents the interests of attorneys, judges, law professors, and students of Latino descent who share a common interest in fostering professional development in the legal community and addressing issues that are important not only to the Puerto Rican community but the Latino community as a whole.

PRBA community! Volunteer attorneys are needed to support Access Justice Brooklyn’s pro bono Chapter 7 bankruptcy program serving individuals and families facing financial hardship due to job loss, family crises, and serious medical issues.

Volunteers may assist with drafting petitions, representing clients in proceedings before the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York, and helping provide families with a fresh start.

CLE Credit Available:
• 1 CLE credit for every 2 pro bono hours worked
• Up to 10 CLE credits per reporting cycle

Today the Puerto Rican Bar Association proudly highlights Ruben Huertero, a committed member who serves as a Director of the PRBA.

Ruben Huertero is a Senior Court Attorney in Queens Family Court, where he supports a Civil Court Judge on a range of family law matters. He earned his Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law and began his legal career as a law clerk with Pacheco & Lugo, PLLC before becoming an associate at Pacheco Group, PLLC. He later served as a Court Attorney in Bronx Criminal Court, building a strong foundation in courtroom practice. In addition to his role with the PRBA, Ruben also serves as Chair of the Latino Lawyers Association of Queens County’s Young Lawyers Committee, reflecting his ongoing commitment to mentorship and community engagement.
